Nigeria are second bottom of Group C, just one point above 6th place as the Super Eagles were held by the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the Uyo Stadium.

Nigeria went into today’s game knowing that a win would take them to first or second place, depending on the score line but the Super Eagles could not take advantage as the game against South Africa ended in a 1-1 draw.

South Africa drew the first blood after Themba Zwane put the Bafana Bafana ahead in the 26th minute.

Nigeria drew level at the start of the second half when Fisayo Dele-Bashiru slotted home in the 46th minute to make the game 1-1.

Nigeria threatened in the last parts of the game but South Africa’s goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, ensured the game ended in stalemate.
