…scored a history hat-trick to beat the unbeatable Leverkusen
Two Nigerians went head-to-head on Wednesday in one of the world’s most decorated competitions, the UEFA Europa League final, and only one prevailed, that is, Ademola Lookman.
Lookman who scored a hat-trick for Atalanta to defeat the unbeatable Bayer Leverkusen lifted the trophy in front of his compatriot, Victor Boniface.
Lookman and Boniface went into the final on different levels; the former eyeing his first-ever major trophy while the latter was on the verge of making history as one of the first-ever players to win a treble unbeaten.

But, the god of football went in the way of Lookman as he scored a hat-trick in the 12, 26, and 76 minutes for his team, Atalanta.
Boniface has been prolific for Leverkusen this season, especially in the Europa League and Xabi Alonso binging him at the start of the second half meant no harm as Lookman had already done the damage in the first half.
The loss means Leverkusen have finally been defeated after going 51 games unbeaten in all competitions.
The German side now have to look at the weekend as they face 1. FCK in the DFB-Pokal final (also known as the German Cup in English).
Atalanta on the other hand will continue their celebrations as winning the Europa League also booked them a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
