Anambra: APC begins screening of Obiora Okonkwo, 6 other governorship aspirants

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has begun the screening of seven governorship aspirants in Anambra State.

The party sold its nomination and expression of interest forms for N40 million and N10 million, respectively.

The APC generated N350 million from the sale of the forms to the seven aspirants – Chukuma Umeoji, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Nicholas Ukachukwu, Sir Paul Chukwuma, Johnbosco Onunkwo, Valentine Ozigbo, and Edozie Madu.

The screening will end on Saturday, with the aspirants cleared by the screening committee expected to contest for the party’s ticket at the primary election slated for April 5.

The APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who inaugurated the screening committee on Friday in Abuja, promised the aspirants a free, fair, and transparent primary election.

According to him, the committee is expected to scrutinise the original credentials submitted by the aspirants to ensure they are authentic.

The chairman of the committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Shema, thanked the party’s leadership for the confidence reposed in the members.

The former Katsina State governor assured that the committee would deliver on its mandate, noting that all the aspirants are qualified and capable of winning Anambra for the APC.

The APC National Working Committee on Thursday adopted an indirect primary election in Anambra State.
