There has been another fire break at the Kada Cinema in Calabar, Cross River State.
The incident, CONVERSEER reports happened this afternoon, 16th April 2024, at about 2 PM in a section of the cinema located at Marina Resort.
According to a viral video shared by Calabar Gist on Facebook, the cause of the incident could not be ascertained but some people who are familiar with the cinema said the theatre needs to be rewired.
“I don’t know the cause of the fire…this is the second time in two months,” a voice in the video said.
Eyewitnesses said the fire was later quelled by the Federal Fire Service before it could spread to other sections.
CONVERSEER reports that this is the second time in two months that the cinema has been gutted by fire; the first was on Saturday, 17th February 2024, at about 10:20 PM.

Recall that following the first fire incident in February, Prince Ojoi Ekpenyong, Managing Director of the Cross River Tourism Bureau on 18th February, released a statement that only Studio 4 of the cinema was affected by that fire.
Ekpenyong said, “Other sections: The VIP, Studios 1, 2 and 3 are not affected and are intact,” adding, “Businesses at the complex including the Bistro, and ticketing areas are fully functional.”
However, when CONVERSEER visited the cinema more than a month later, it was not functional.
