Bode George calls on Tinubu to control Wike for regional harmony in Rivers

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has called on President Bola Tinubu to step in and curb the actions of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, warning that the political crisis in Rivers State could spiral out of control if left unchecked.

George, who made the call in a statement on Thursday, cautioned that Wike’s provocative remarks and political maneuvering could destabilize the state and negatively impact the entire nation, particularly given Rivers’ economic significance.

In a sharp rebuke, George condemned Wike’s public outbursts, suggesting that they not only threaten Rivers State’s stability but also damage the reputation of Tinubu’s administration.

“Unless the President is not telling us the whole truth, I don’t know why a minister would embarrass his administration publicly,” George stated.

He specifically took issue with Wike’s bold stance on the possible impeachment of Governor Sim Fubara, describing it as overreach.

“What is the meaning of ‘if they impeach Fubara, nothing will happen?’ Is Wike God?” George asked, questioning Wike’s growing influence in the state.

Drawing from his military background, George compared the current situation to the Nigerian Civil War, emphasizing the potential dangers of escalating political conflict.“

Rivers State is the center of our economic activity. If crisis starts, it will affect everyone, not just Wike,” he warned.

With tensions already running high, George urged Tinubu to act swiftly, saying that calling Wike to order would prevent further chaos and ensure stability in Rivers State.
