The 2024 Calabar Carnival has come to a close, and the results are in! The highly anticipated event, which showcased the rich cultural heritage and creativity of various local governments, states, and carnival bands, was a huge success.
In the Local Government Carnival category, Yakurr Local Government Area took the top spot, with Calabar South and Odukpani Local Government Area coming in second and third, respectively. The Yakurr team wowed the judges with their impressive display of cultural heritage, music, and dance, earning them the coveted first prize.
The Senior Carnival category saw Calas Vegas emerge as the winner, with Seagull and Freedom Band taking second and third place, respectively. Calas Vegas’s stunning costumes, energetic performances, and creative themes impressed the judges and spectators alike, securing their position as the top senior carnival band.
In the Children’s (Junior) Carnival category, Calas Vegas once again took the top spot, with Seagull and Bayside Band coming in second and third, respectively. The children’s carnival was a highlight of the event, with young performers showcasing their talents and creativity in a fun and exciting display.
The Cultural/State Carnival category saw Akwa Ibom State take the top prize, with Osun State and Delta State coming in second and third, respectively. The Akwa Ibom State team impressed the judges with their rich cultural heritage, traditional music, and dance, earning them the coveted first prize.
