Carnival: Mayorkun Vows Never To Visit Calabar Over Alleged Theft

Singer and songwriter, Mayorkun has vowed never to visit Calabar, Cross River capital again.

The 29-year-old disclosed this on Tuesday following his experience on Monday night at the UJ Esuene Stadium, the venue for the Carnival Calabar & Festival Mega Concert.

The multi-awarding winning singer claimed his expensive chain was stolen during his performance.

Taking to his social media pages to err his displeasure, Mayorkun said he’s never going to visit Calabar, wishing other artists billed to perform at the festival luck.

“CALABAR, You’ll probably NEVER EVER see me again, good luck to the other artistes coming for your festivals tho,” Mayorkun wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

When asked the reason why, the singer who alleged his chain was stolen, said “Izz gone! no wam!”

In his earlier post, he wrote, “I just want to wake up from this dream bro.”

Meanwhile, a spectator, Prince Nsa Ekpenyong claimed that Mayorkun promised a fan N500,000.

“….nothing happened….na Mayorkun cos am.,.how can he promised an hungry fans 500k? Without making provision on how the street boy will get the money?

“He did not even finish his performance….he was still having like 7 more minutes to play…the next thing….he said Calabar thank you, and head to his SUV vehicle….what do you think will not happen? The boys that came with the guy apprehended him for the money….the rest was history…,” Ekpenyong said.

CONVERSEER reports that Mayorkun whose formal name is Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, was billed to perform at the Calabar Festival Mega Concert at 7pm (WAT) at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
