Chad Concludes Operation Haskanite, Declares Victory Over Boko Haram

The Chadian army has officially concluded Operation Haskanite, a large-scale military offensive launched in November 2024 to combat Boko Haram.

The operation resulted in the elimination of nearly 300 Boko Haram fighters, with 27 casualties reported on the Chadian side.

Army spokesman General Chanane Issaka Achek announced the operation’s success during a press briefing in N’Djamena on Tuesday, February 18. The campaign, which began on November 7, was a response to a deadly Boko Haram attack on Barkaram Island.

Under the direct supervision of President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, the Chadian military executed both land and air assaults, neutralizing 297 terrorists and wounding 163 others. Security forces also seized a significant cache of weapons, including 112 individual firearms and five heavy weapons.

Among those killed was Ganaï Djougoun, a key Boko Haram leader responsible for a major attack in 2022.

Chadian losses included 24 soldiers and three civilians, while 37 soldiers and four civilians sustained injuries. General Achek assured the public that most of the wounded have recovered.

With the conclusion of Operation Haskanite, Chad’s military leadership has reinforced security in the region, declaring that Boko Haram no longer holds any strongholds within Chadian territory.
