Communities and Agencies in Cross River and Akwa Ibom States have again been privileged to enjoy the benefits of clean and healthy surroundings.

This is courtesy The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints annual “All Africa service project” initiative where members work with friends to offer various acts of services across communities, agencies and neighborhood.

In Calabar, the Cross River State Capital, participants at the annual service project engaged in cleaning public facilities including Health, Education, Fire stations, blocked drains, dumps among others.

Similar exercise took place in the Stakes in neighbouring states of Akwa Ibom, Abia and others across Nigeria earlier but Cross River was left out then owing to other Church engagements.

The four Stakes in Cross River state namely, Calabar-Tinapa, Calabar-Nigeria, Calabar-Eta-Agbor and Calabar-South Stakes were actively engaged from various locations across the state.

Speaking on the essence of the annual Project, President Akwaowo Joseph Ekong, Stake President of the Calabar-Tinapa Stake said “Members by this engagement today have showcased the church standing in the place of service to humanity as a way of expressing their belief and devotion to God.”

Akwaowo who expressed satisfaction with the outcome pointed out that “The exercise shows members obedience to the call by the prophet to share, love and invite others to partake in the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Similarly, President Kalu Prince Ukpai, Calabar South Stake President, observed that “The annual Africa service project is a duty we owe the Saviour and our neighbors as exemplified by this simple act of service in keeping with the Saviors commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves.”

Also, the Calabar-Eta-Agbor Stake President, President Godwin Oboh, and his counterpart in the Calabar-Nigeria Stake, President Alex Nkoro, registered their impressions from several locations in their Stakes.
