Clark’s family condemns Wike for showing disrespect to the elder statesman after his passing.

The family of late Niger-Delta icon, Pa Edwin Clark, has lampooned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for allegedly making disparaging remarks about the elder statesman.

Wike had during a media chat held last week Thursday, described the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) as the worst organisation anybody can rely on.

He also described the the board of trustee members of PANDEF as political merchants who were only interested in their personal interests using the body as a front.

But in a statement signed on Monday by Prof. C. Clark on behalf of the family, the Clarks expressed disappointment with Wike over the comments.

The family berated the minister for chosing to play politics instead of showing respect to the late Clark, even in death.

“Haba! What kind of politics is this that he could not even let the family mourn their father nor allow late Pa Clark to rest in peace? This is unacceptable and in bad taste,” the statement said.

“I thought in African culture and traditions, the dead—especially revered elder statesmen like Pa Clark, who recently passed on and is not yet buried—should be respected, as has been shown by thousands who have come to pay their condolences.

“But not so with Wike! I thank God that the whole world has seen his pathetic, miserable, and bitter politics! It is obvious Wike is Wike, and in the words of late Pa Clark himself, he (Wike) is dancing naked.

“This is the height of disrespect and indiscretion. One can hardly imagine what Wike can say next.”
