Court remands Man who killed, dumped Lady inside a soakaway in C’River

A 49-year-old man by the name of Eyo Bassey Etim has been remanded by the Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State for kidnapping and murdering Miss Edemawan Harmony, and dumping her body in a septic tank (soakaway).

Eyo who was remanded on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, pleaded guilty to a two-count Charge of Conspiracy/Kidnapping and Murder in Charge number: FHC/CA/2C/2023.

He was remanded by Justice Rosemary Dugbo Oghoghorie of Court II, Federal High Court, Calabar, who ordered that the suspect be remanded till April 18, 2023, when the matter would come up again.

Why pleading to the charge, Eyo said he also used his victim’s Phone to SMSĀ  to her family members in a bid to deceive them not to search for their daughter.

The text message obtained read in part, “…I am sorry about what I did to Sir Eyo, his agent sent me the 9 million, money from the sales of his house, I have the money, I’m going to America, I will reach out to you with my new number when I get to the United States…”

Further findings revealed that the culprit is also being accused by some members of the community of other murder incidents in the area.

They alleged that he is responsible for the disappearance of the owners of the house where he murdered Miss Edemawan.

CONVERSEER earlier reported that Miss Edemawan was declared missing on December 22, 2022, while her corpse was discovered on a Christmas day from a soakaway in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the State.

The deceased was discovered by the Anti Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (Dragon Squad), a unit of the Nigeria Police led by SP Ogini Chukwuma, following a tip from the members of the community.
