Bamako, Mali – Dr Yibala Akpama Edimek, a distinguished medical professional from Cross River State, has made history by emerging as the overall best candidate in the prestigious West African College of Surgeons (WACS) Fellowship Examination—a feat she achieved on her first attempt.

In addition to this remarkable accomplishment, she was also awarded Best Female Candidate in West Africa, further cementing her status as a trailblazer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Dr Yibala received these double honours at the 65th Annual Scientific Conference of WACS, held in Bamako, Mali, where she was recognised for her exceptional academic excellence and professional expertise.

The West African College of Surgeons is a highly esteemed institution that sets the benchmark for surgical education, training, and research across the continent, accrediting only the most outstanding medical professionals.
