Excerpts from Hon. Jarigbe Agom’s Facebook Live Video Address to Constituents.
– I am representing Ogoja/Yala federal constituency. I am a son of the North.
-48 hours after the demise of Senator Rose Oko, a lot of people went about thinking of her replacement even on social media. It was insensitive given that she hasn’t been buried her remains is still abroad because of Covid-19. I went on my wall to State that it was too early.
-I am not an over ambitious person. As it is, there’s so much agitation from Ogoja who have never produced a Senator.
-We are in a democracy and in democracy, we persuade, lobby and we talk to people to see reasons with us, we don’t foist anything on them.
-There is no bitterness but there will be no arm twisting.
-We are so impoverished that we cannot air out our views, we cannot remain subservient. We must speak for our people.
-Everyone interested in the Senate seat is eminently qualified no matter the platform. It is not about the platform but about who can deliver and our people understands and know who can deliver and who will deliver.
-Our people yearns for democratic dividends and have the right to select who represents them.
-They think that there’s an attempt of foisting a particular candidate on them unilaterally and that is unacceptable. Our people are not happy about it and I must say, I was voted to speak for my people on the floor of the house and outside.
– We will work as a people and throw up a Senator. A Senator for all and not a particular set of people.
-I will subject only, to superior argument.
