Cross River State WASH Media Network inducts new members

OGOJA (CONVERSEER) – The Cross River State Water, Sanitation and Health (WASH) Media Network has inducted new members to aid pilot the activities of the programme in the state.

The inauguration, which was held on Friday, 23rd May 2025, in Ogoja, saw five new members added to the fold, while one person renewed her membership.

The members are journalists from various media outlets, including Eme Offiong of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Nakanda Iyadim of Cross River State Ministry of Information, Richard Ndoma of Leadership Newspaper, Happiness Ifiok of AIT, Miracle Edor of NTA, and Scholastica Ferox of Hit FM (The Orange Show).

Inaugurating the new members, Wale Elekulosi, National Coordinator of WASH Media Network, charged the new members to highlight WASH activities in order to promote healthy living.

Those present at the inauguration are Ebiye Dorgu, Cross River State Coordinator of Self Help Africa; Felix Irek, Chief Geologist, Cross River State Ministry of Water Resources; Anthony Kedang, Cross River State NEWSAN Coordinator; Jeremiah Archibong, STG-WASH PRO; among others.

The training was organised under the WASH Systems for Health (WS4H) Programme, which is supported by the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) and implemented by Self Help Africa (SHA).

The programme aims to strengthen the capacity of the state’s WASH Media Network, empowering them to serve as watchdogs, storytellers, and advocates in their communities.

The addition further strengthens the Cross River State WASH Media Network which was inaugurated in August 2020.
