Dan Obo Passes on Mantle as Best Youths Chairman in Nigeria to Niger NYCN Chairman

Calabar, Nigeria – The immediate past Chairman of the National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Cross River State, His Youthfulness, Comrade Dan Obo, has passed on the position of the Best NYCN Chairman in Nigeria to Amb. Abdullahi Muhammad Ishaq, Niger State NYCN Chairman.

Until December 31, 2024, Obo held the position of the Best Youths Chairman in the country, even after the expiration of his tenure as the Cross River State NYCN Chairman in June 2024.

Obo, who was the starlight of the youth council in Nigeria, said it was an honour to be able to lead the youths for four years.

His leadership style led to his appointment as the Special Adviser on Youths Mobilisation to Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu.

In his transition speech, Obo attributed his leadership success to listening, learning and demonstrating. He also acknowledged former Governor Ben Ayade as well as Governor Bassey Otu, for not meddling in the affairs of the association.

“My emergence as the Best Youths Chairman in Nigeria didn’t come overnight. It came as a decision I made while assuming office: to put Cross River State NYCN above everything, and that paid off.

“There were challenges, but with a competent team and a listening ear, my administration was able to carry everyone alone, and it was a success; from the accolades we received across the country. In fact, Cross River NYCN was used as a model for Nigeria, under my watch.

“I’ll also like to commend former Governor Ben Ayade, for not meddling in the affairs of the council. When His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Otu came on board, he followed suit, and I was able to complete my administration without anyone deciding the affairs of the youths in the state,” Obo said.

Obo, who also led the Youths of Obubra, was elected as the NYCN Chairman in the state on June 20, 2020.
