EFCC arrests 128 suspected internet fraudsters in Osun, Kwara, Edo

…recovers 6 exotic cars, 16 laptops, 38 mobile phones

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 44 suspected internet fraudsters also referred to as Yahoo Boys in Calabar, Cross River State.

CONVERSEER learned that the suspects were arrested by investigators at the Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC.

According to a statement by the EFCC, the suspected fraudsters were arrested in an early morning sting operation on Thursday, 9th May 2024, at Satellite Town, Tinapa Junction and Parliamentary Extension – all in Calabar Municipality Local Government Area of the State.

“Items recovered from them include six exotic cars, 16 laptops and 38 mobile phones.

“The suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement added.

CONVERSEER reports that 128 suspected internet fraudsters were arrested by the EFCC in three different states; Osun, Kwara and Edo within the week.

The EFCC also arrested 21 suspected internet fraudsters in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital on 6th May 2024.
