The officials of the Department of State Service (DSS) on Tuesday (July 25) beat the Nigerian Correctional Service (formerly Nigerian Prisons Service) commander in court.
CONVERSEER learned that the show of supremacy is over who will take into custody the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele.
The fight happened in front of Nicholas Oweibo’s courtroom at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Emefiele has been with the DSS following his suspension by President Bola Tinubu.
He was charged to court today (Tuesday), and he pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges bordering on the possession of firearms and ammunition.
In the first count, Emefiele is accused of possessing a single-barrel shotgun (JOJEFF MAGNUM 8371) without a licence, which is contrary to Section 4 of the Firearms Act, and punishable under Section 27 (1b) of the same Act.
In the second count, the suspended CBN governor is accused of having in his possession 123 rounds of live ammunition (cartridges) without a licence, which is contrary to Section 8 of the Firearms Act and punishable under Section 27 (1)(b)(il) of the same Act.
He was granted bail of twenty million naira (N20m) by the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on Tuesday.
CONVERSEER further learned that the DSS finally took custody of Emefiele following the brawl with the Correctional Service.
