A tragic accident has claimed the lives of three students from the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) along Calabar-Ikom highway.
CONVERSEER gathered that the accident occurred on Monday afternoon at Ikom section of the road.
According to a video made available to our newsroom, the students were travelling in a white bus belonging to Romchi with vehicle number 483.
One of the passengers, a female, who made the video was crying while checking on her friends with whom they boarded the vehicle together.
The girl/lady who was shouting “Jesus! Jesus!! Jesus!!!” said, “I was there, I was sitting in front, thank God for my life.”

A source, Ndoma Akunobor, said three UNICROSS students from the Departments of Microbiology and Plants Science and Biotechnology (PSB), lost their lives in the fatal accident.
“Three UNICROSS students who were involved in a motor accident at Ikom lost their lives – two from Microbiology and one from Plants Science and Biotechnology,” Akunobor said.
Another source said the students and others boarded the vehicle at Etta-Agbor in Calabar to Ogoja.
The identity of the students is yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
CONVERSEER reports that the Management of UNICROSS in a circular No. 433, ordered the closure of the institution for two weeks (from 30th July 2024 to 12th August 2024) ahead of the 1st of August 2024 nationwide protest.
