Ghana and Morocco have signed a visa waiver agreement, allowing visa-free travel for all categories of travelers between the two nations.
Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced the development on Monday following a meeting with Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana, Imane Ouaadil.
The agreement, which awaits ratification by Ghana’s parliament, marks a significant step in strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Accra and Rabat.
Beyond easing travel restrictions, both nations also explored deeper cooperation in agriculture, tourism, and security.
As part of the agreement, Morocco has doubled the number of scholarships for Ghanaian students from 90 to 180 for the upcoming academic year.
This move comes two months after Ghana severed ties with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), further aligning its foreign policy with Morocco.
