Global PC Shipments Rise 1.4% in Q4 2024, Marking Fifth Consecutive Quarter of Growth

According to a blog post by market research firm Gartner, global PC shipments in the fourth quarter of 2024 reached 64.4 million units, representing a year-on-year growth of 1.4%. This marks the fifth consecutive quarter of growth in the sector, reflecting steady demand recovery.

For the full year of 2024, PC shipments totalled 245.3 million units, up 1.3% compared to 2023. However, annual shipments have remained below the 250 million mark for the second consecutive year, underlining a market still grappling with long-term challenges.

The data signals a cautiously optimistic outlook for the PC market, driven by stabilised supply chains and moderate consumer and enterprise demand. Further insights into regional trends or segment performance were not disclosed in the initial report.

Converseer quoted the report content and attached the situation of major global markets as follows:

  • The US market grew 3.5% year-on-year, with solid demand from the public sector and corporate markets, and the consumer market driven by year-end promotions

  • The European, Middle East and African market (EMEA) fell 1.6% year-on-year, but grew 1.9% year-on-year, indicating that the market is stabilizing.

  • The Asia-Pacific region fell 12% year-on-year.

In terms of brands, Lenovo has grown for five consecutive quarters, with a year-on-year growth of 4.2%, while HP and Dell have declined. Other manufacturers have performed differently, with Asus and Acer achieving growth. The high price of AI PCs and economic uncertainty in some regions have suppressed market demand.
