Calabar, Cross River State – Governor Bassey Otu on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, presented official vehicles to the newly inaugurated Vice Chairmen of Council.
This is in line with the Cross River State Government’s commitment to enhancing productivity and efficiency while promoting the well-being of the public service workforce, particularly at the local government level.
During the presentation, Governor Bassey Otu, represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, emphasised that the occasion marked a significant step in the administration’s commitment to excellence and efficiency.
He highlighted the crucial role council chairmen play in delivering the dividends of democracy in line with the “People First” mantra and the importance of equipping them to fulfil their official duties effectively.
He further urged the Vice Chairmen to serve their people by fostering development and staying connected with them at all times.
In a vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman of Obubra Local Government Council, Hon. Leonard Ogwa, expressed gratitude to the people-centric Governor, Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu.
He assured that they would work alongside their Council Chairmen to build on the Governor’s achievements, noting that the vehicles would significantly enhance the smooth and efficient operation of their offices.
It is worth recalling that shortly after their inauguration, the Governor had also presented official vehicles to the 18 Council Chairmen.
Highpoint of the brief ceremony, which took place at the Government House Calabar, was the formal handing of keys to the beneficiaries by the deputy governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, and assisted by the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar.
