Gunmen kidnap 3 UNICAL students on campus

Three University of Calabar, UNICAL students have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen on campus.

CONVERSEER gathered that the three students from different classes were kidnapped at about 9pm on Friday at Freedom Hostel, Staff Quarters, UNICAL.

According to Chase, one of the students of the university, the kidnapped students are Ojang Precious Ebejin, 200-level student of the Department of Medicine and Surgery and Ugwu Chukwuemeka, a 300-level student of the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology.

The third victim is Damilola Dickson, a final-year student of the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology. “She is the only child and has just five months to graduate,” the source said.

“We plead with tears in our eyes to the University of Calabar security team, the Commissioner of Police and the Cross River State Government to bring them back to safety,” the source added.

Efforts to reach Mr Effiong Eyo, Public Relations Officer of UNICAL on the phone on Saturday proved abortive he did not take his calls.

Also, the phone number of SP Irene Ugbo, Police Public Relations Officer, Cross River State Command was not reachable at the time of filing this report.
