Makurdi, Nigeria – A lawyer identified as Mike Ofikwu was tragically killed by gunmen on Wednesday evening in the Otukpo area of Benue State.
The incident occurred around 8:00 PM outside Ofikwu’s home in Otukpo Local Government Area. The lawyer was reportedly shot at close range while at his gate.
Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear at the time of filing this report.
The Benue State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, Sewuese Anene.
She stated that a thorough investigation into the matter has been initiated to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
This incident has sparked concerns over rising insecurity in the region and has led to calls for increased security measures.
