IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has accused Justice Binta Nyako, the judge presiding over his trial, of bias, claiming that her son and husband are facing corruption charges and alleging that she has been pressured to convict him in exchange for leniency towards her family.
Kanu made the statement during his court appearance, where he also criticized the Nigerian judiciary, stating, “Poor knowledge of the law is killing Nigeria.”
Kanu argued that his agitation for self-rule is not a crime and cited judgments that he claims invalidate his trial. He further referenced Supreme Court rules, insisting that Justice Nyako’s handling of the case demonstrates bias, and called for her to recuse herself.
The IPOB leader also reiterated his accusation that the Nigerian government had kidnapped him from Kenya, describing his rendition as a violation of international law and his human rights.
