Nigerian striker Osarimen Ebagua has unveiled the real reason behind Samuel Chukwueze’s struggles at AC Milan, suggesting the intense pressure of playing for a top club may be holding him back.
Chukwueze joined AC Milan in 2023 after six successful years at Villarreal, with high expectations to follow in the footsteps of fellow Super Eagles stars like Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen in Serie A.
However, the 25-year-old forward has failed to consistently perform for the Rossoneri, with most of his appearances coming from the bench. So far, he has only managed six goals and four assists in 55 games.
Amid the struggles, rumors of a potential move to clubs like Real Betis and Arsenal have swirled, but no concrete offers have emerged.

Ebagua, who has spent most of his career in Italy, understands the challenges that come with wearing the Milan shirt.
He believes Chukwueze is still adjusting to the enormous pressure of playing for such a prestigious club.
“The Milan shirt is heavy, and the spotlight at San Siro is intense,” Ebagua said in an interview with the Milanisti channel. “Chukwueze has the talent, but sometimes players find themselves in the right place at the wrong time.”
Ebagua shared a personal experience of his debut at San Siro, where he was so nervous that it led to a costly mistake.
“I remember my debut at the Meazza—I was nervous after recovering a ball from Sneijder, and I turned around too much, which allowed Lucio to steal it from me.”
“San Siro doesn’t forgive mistakes. Chukwueze may not be showing his best because he’s not fully ready for that kind of pressure,” Ebagua added.
With the appointment of new coach Sergio Conceição, Chukwueze has a fresh chance to prove himself.
