The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Governing Council has suspended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Augustine Angba.
CONVERSEER gathered that Angba was suspended today, Monday, 6th May 2024, by the Governing Council over alleged gross misconduct.
He’s said to have handed over to Prof. Stephen Ochang from the Faculty of Agriculture.
Recall that on Wednesday, 17 January 2024, some staff of the University passed a vote-of-no-confidence on the embattled VC, calling for his sack.

The staff who were protesting non-payment of 5 months salary arrears were carrying placards, some of which read: “This Management and the VC must go,” “We don’t want them any longer,” and several others.
However, Angba berated the staff unions, claiming that four members hijacked the staff union, inciting others to go out to the streets to protest. READ MORE HERE.
When contacted on the phone on Monday, the spokesperson of the University, Mr Onen Onen, did not take his calls at the time of filing this report.
In a similar vein, Prof. Angba’s phone line was busy at the time of this report.
