LEIPZIG – Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane will face no sanctions for coming pitch-side shortly before the end of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match at RB Leipzig although he was serving a suspension.

Kane had watched the game in the stands before walking down in the closing stages and ready to celebrate a first personal title and a 34th German championship for Bayern, before the party was put on hold when Leipzig levelled at 3-3 with the last kick of the game.

There was speculation whether his appearance could be illegal but the German FA told dpa on Sunday that players serving yellow card suspensions are not banned from the infield.

Kane had picked up his fifth yellow card of the season a week ago during Bayern’s 3-0 win over Mainz and was suspended in Leipzig.

The England captain has never won a title in his career, losing three club finals with previous club Tottenham Hotspur and two Euro finals with the national team.

Bayern can make the title official if second-placed Bayer Leverkusen fail to win in Freiburg later on Saturday, or if Bayern avoid defeat next weekend at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

That latter is the preferred scenario of the players, and Kane would also be back in the team while outgoing veteran Thomas Müller could earn a 750th Bayern appearance.

“I hope that Leverkusen win. It will feel complete with a victory next week,” midfielder Joshua Kimmich said.

The players did however celebrate with the fans in Leipzig because the title is effectively theirs nine points and 30 goals ahead of Leverkusen.

“We somehow feel like champions. We aren’t yet officially, but it almost feels like it,” Müller said.
