The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, UNICAL, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, has described the erstwhile Chief Medical Director of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, Prof. Thomas Agan, as a friend and pillar of hope.

The Vice-Chancellor said this at a Valedictory Senate Session in honour of the late Prof. Agan, held on Thursday at the Senate Chamber of the University of Calabar.

Prof. Obi said that the demise of the late Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology was devastating and a huge loss not only to his family but the University Community and the nation at large.

She described him as a service-oriented gentleman, jovial, sociable, and excellent academic who provided voluntary and unquantifiable service to mankind.

In a tribute, the Chairman, Committee of Deans, Prof. Ajake Anim, stated that the Committee of Deans received the news of the fall of the consciousness of a huge sense of loss.
