A young man and a father of one, Agim Ushie (Alinco), who was also preparing for his wedding in four months’ time has died from a fatal accident.
Agim who hails from Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State was supposed to have his marriage in November this year before he had an accident and died in July, leaving behind a one-year-old child.
CONVERSEER learned that Agim was returning from the market on Sunday, 28th July, when he rammed into a truck illegally packed by the roadside along Murtala Mohammed Highway by Shafa Filling Station in Calabar.
The deceased brother, Ken Agim, while calling on Governor Bassey Otu to remove trucks and trailers illegally packed by the roadside, pleads with the government to come to the aid of the family.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Ken wrote: “It is with grief and heaviness of heart that I write this open appeal to the government and governor of Cross River State, HE Senator Prince Bassey Otu on the proliferation and illegal parking of trucks, tankers, trailers and other heavy duty vehicles along our highways especially the MM HW (Murtala Mohamed Highway) which is the major entrance into our state capital Calabar.
“This illegal act has led to the wanton loss of lives that has left unending pains in the heart of many families. I had mine only last night (28th July) when my brother only went out to get stuff for his family and on his way back, ran into one of these trailers and the impact left him lifeless.
“This irreparable damage is one out of so many. Sir, I call on your sense of fatherhood and good conscience of humanity to please see to the end of this ugly occurrence.

“This young vibrant law-abiding Cross Riverian had his life cut short by another man’s profitable venture at the expense of his 1-year-old daughter who will rarely recognise her daddy. Or is it her eldest sister whose mum passed on at child birth and she never saw or knew her mum and now at age 15, she has to take the painful pill of yet again loosing her dad.
“Sir, I wish that your good heart for humanity will consider a helping hand to this jobless mum left to carter for these girls and also allocate a land for these vehicles and enforce strict compliance. Our hearts bleeds and our eyes heavy. IT’S HARD TO TYPE ‘RIP’ Agim Ushie.”
Another relative to the deceased, Greg Betiang, posted on Facebook saying, “Senior bro, you just wound me for the rest of my life. We spoke yesterday about your traditional marriage by November na.
“What’s life all about??? Agim Ushie Alinco, may God continue to grant you eternal rest, Amen.”
