Morocco Selected as the Official Headquarters for the African Clubs Association

The Executive Board of the African Clubs Association (ACA) as announced that Morocco will serve as the official headquarters for the association, with 8 out of 12 members voting in favor of the bid.

Morocco’s proposal stood out due to the country’s significant investment in world-class sports infrastructure and its commitment to advancing African football.

The nation’s strong track record of hosting major sporting events, including the FIFA Club World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations, was a key factor in the decision.

In addition to hosting the men’s and women’s Africa Cup of Nations this year, Morocco is preparing to co-host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal.

Paul Bassey, Vice President of ACA from Nigeria, confirmed the decision, stating,

“After evaluating the bids, we unanimously agreed that Morocco offers the best deal due to its high-quality infrastructure and its vision for football development across Africa over the next fifty years.”

He also highlighted that ACA will have offices in Rabat, near CAF and FIFA offices, which strengthens Morocco’s role in the global football scene.

Following the board meeting, ACA sent a letter to Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), congratulating him on Morocco’s successful bid to host the ACA.

“We are thrilled to begin this new era with Morocco as the host of the African Clubs Association,” Said stated.

A memorandum of understanding between ACA and Morocco will be signed on January 27 during the Africa Cup of Nations draw, marking the start of a long-term partnership and establishing ACA’s presence in Morocco.
