Niger Requests Nigeria’s Assistance to Alleviate Fuel Shortage

Nigerien authorities have urgently requested assistance from the Nigerian government to ease a severe fuel shortage that has paralyzed the country.

According to reports, a delegation of senior officials from Niger’s transitional government traveled to Abuja to meet with Nigerian government representatives. Following the discussions, 300 trucks of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) were reportedly approved for delivery to Niger.

This development comes despite months of diplomatic tension between the two neighboring nations.

For weeks, Niger has struggled with an extreme fuel shortage, leading to long queues at petrol stations, soaring black-market prices, and widespread economic hardship.

The intervention is seen as a crucial step toward stabilizing the situation and restoring normalcy in the country.
