in News

At least nine people lost their lives in a fatal road crash along the Malumfashi-Kafur Road in Katsina State.

The lone accident involving a Hummer bus carrying 20 passengers occurred on Sunday morning, March 30, 2025.

The Katsina State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Aliyu Ma’aji, who confirmed the accident in a statement attributed it to over speeding.

“Nine passengers d!ed on the spot, while 11 others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigations attributed the crash to “speeding and loss of control,” he stated.

The FRSC commander urged motorists to exercise caution, warning against speeding, overloading, and reckless driving, especially during festive periods.

“Despite the state government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure, reckless driving remains a major cause of fatal accidents in Katsina,” he added.
