His Holiness Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia extended warm congratulations to Donald Trump following his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States, emphasizing both global expectations and spiritual dimensions of leadership.
The Georgian primate acknowledged the president’s focus on domestic issues while expressing hope for broader positive changes, particularly praising his stated commitment to traditional Christian values and world peace.
His Holiness’ letter reads:
I heartily congratulate you on your election as the 47th President of the United States of America.
The people’s expectations of you are very high not only in America but throughout the world. While in your inaugural address you placed the main emphasis on strengthening your country, everyone hopes that the successful implementation of your set goals will bring beneficial changes in general and overcome many serious challenges.
Of particular importance is your aspiration to protect universal traditional values based on Christian consciousness and spare no effort for peace on Earth.
All authority comes from the Lord, but blessed are the nation and the ruler who connect their service to God. Blessed is the man whose hope is the name of the Lord (Ps. 39:5).
