Police arrest over a dozen drug traffickers in Dakar

DAKAR (CONVERSEER) – Senegalese authorities have arrested more than a dozen individuals, mostly foreigners, in a major crackdown on a drug trafficking network operating in Dakar.

The operation, led by the Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS), was based on actionable intelligence indicating intense trafficking activity in the capital.

Law enforcement officials seized 980 grams of Indian hemp (both in bulk and cone form), 61 kepas of Kush, and 14 crack stones during the raid.

Additional items confiscated include a TVS motorcycle, seven coffee kiosks, 21 mobile phones, six purebred sheep, and 33,000 CFA francs.

Authorities have launched further investigations to track down other accomplices linked to the network and are urging the public to provide any information that could assist in apprehending all those involved.
