President Mahama fulfils 25 campaign promises in 120 days

ACCRA (CONVERSEER) – President John Mahama-led Ghanaian government has released a report outlining its achievements during its first 120 days in office, asserting that it has fulfilled all 25 campaign promises under the slogan #PromisesDelivered.

The document covers reforms in governance, economy, education, security, and the environment. Notable governance initiatives include the formation of a lean cabinet within 90 days, introduction of a civil servant code of conduct, a ban on political appointees acquiring public assets, and a bill to streamline scholarship administration and combat nepotism.

On the economic front, the administration has called for the removal of unpopular taxes such as the E-tax, COVID tax, and betting tax, while adjusting import duties to boost local industries.

The education sector has seen the introduction of free tuition for first-year students and the launch of a medical care fund for persons with disabilities, alongside the distribution of free sanitary pads in schools.

The government has reopened investigations into political violence and media killings, initiated audits into national financial scandals, and taken steps to address flooding and dam overflow incidents.

Environmental measures include a crackdown on illegal mining in forest reserves and the ‘Tree for Life’ reforestation initiative. The newly launched ‘Black Star Experience’ campaign aims to elevate Ghana’s profile as a premier tourist destination.

John Dramani Mahama assumed office after defeating Mahamadu Bawumia in the December 2024 election.
