Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi marked his return to West Bromwich Albion’s starting XI, playing the full 90 minutes in their 1-1 draw against Millwall in the SkyBet Championship.
The Nigerian international had been sidelined since October 26 after suffering a hamstring injury in a goalless draw against Cardiff City. Following a successful surgery and months of recovery, he finally made his first start in over three months.
Ajayi was an unused substitute in West Brom’s midweek loss to Blackburn Rovers but was reinstated to the lineup against Millwall, delivering a strong defensive display. He won five duels and made five successful tackles, helping his side secure a hard-fought point.

Millwall took the lead in the 19th minute through Femi Azeez, but West Brom responded just seven minutes later when Joe Bryan’s own goal leveled the score. Both teams pushed for a winner, but a resilient defensive effort ensured the match ended in a draw.

Before his injury, Ajayi had been a key figure in West Brom’s defense, starting 10 of the team’s first 12 league matches. His return comes at a crucial time for the Baggies as they push for a Championship playoff spot.
It’s also a boost for the Super Eagles, with head coach Eric Chelle expected to count on Ajayi’s experience when Nigeria resumes their CAF World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.
