Suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Cyril Ndifon has refused to appear before the panel that was set up to investigate his alleged misconduct, sexual harassment and abuse of office.

CONVERSEER reported earlier that Ndifon was to appear before the panel on Tuesday (September 12).

A letter signed by Barr. Gabriel Orok, Secretary to the Panel To Investigate Alleged Misconduct, Sexual Harassment And Abuse Of Office, on Tuesday said Ndifon refused to appear before the panel.

The letter titled “INVITATION TO INTERACT WITH THE ABOVE PANEL” said the embattled lecturer has another opportunity to appear before the panel on Thursday (September 14) in order to give his response to the allegations labelled against him.

It read: “Following your refusal to appear before the above Panel today 12th September 2023, you are hereby invited again for interaction with the above Panel to give your response to the issues related to the allegations of misconduct, sexual harassment and abuse of office levelled against you.

“The sitting of the Panel has been scheduled as follows:

Date: Thursday, September 14, 2023

Time: 10.00 a.m. prompt

Venue: University of Calabar Council Chamber

“This invitation offers you the opportunity to make your submission/case on the issues before the facts-finding Panel which is in consonance with the standard administrative practice and in keeping with the extant rules and regulations of the University of Calabar. Thank you.”

CONVERSEER reports that on August 14, 2023, some students of the Faculty of Law under the umbrella of Law Students’ Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) were led by their President, Comrade Benedict Otu protesting the sundry misdemeanours and improprieties in the Faculty before taking it the Administrative block of the institution.
