Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, Speaker, of Cross River State House of Assembly, urges members of the Ikom Traditional Rulers Council to preserve their cultural landmarks and uphold principles of justice, equity, and fairness in the election of their new paramount ruler.
The event was graced by the presence of Etiyin (Dr) Etim Okon Edet, Chairman of the Cross River State Traditional Rulers Council and the paramount ruler of Bakassi.
Speaker Ayambem, stressed the significance of this moment, emphasising that while he believed every aspirant was eminently qualified, it was essential for council members to rally around common interests for the betterment of their people and the stability of the state.
He called for unity and cooperation, highlighting the importance of wholehearted support for the chosen paramount ruler.
In response to Speaker Ayambem’s charge, the Chairman of the Council, Etiyin (Dr) Etim Okon Edet, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Speaker’s statesmanship. He assured all present that the election process would be conducted flawlessly and in strict adherence to democratic principles.
The Paramount Ruler pledged his unwavering commitment to ensuring that the chosen paramount ruler was truly representative of the people’s will and aspirations.
This paramount ruler, once elected, will be presented to the Governor, symbolising a collective decision made by the people.
