Not less than 30 people have been kidnapped in Katsina, former President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state.

CONVERSEER learned that the incident happened on Sunday night when a group of terrorists wearing military uniforms stormed Tasharnagulle community in Batsari Local Government Area of the State to carry out the attack.

According to Daily Trust, the terrorists entered the village and started shooting into the air.

“The gunmen then began to call out to those fleeing away, telling them that nothing would happen to them

“We are security personnel, we have come to help you but you are running away, we will shoot anyone who runs away,” one of the sources told the paper.

The source added that the terrorists moved from house to house, harassing people and telling them to come out and not to run, “that was why they were able to assemble many people to abduct.”

One of the escapees said that when they arrived at the place where the bandits had kept their motorcycles, they took a head count, which totalled 31 men and women (including girls and married women), and then commanded everyone to get on the motorcycles.

The escapee claimed that was when he managed to escape and return home.

Residents in the vicinity confirmed the occurrence to the press, but the police stated they were still investigating.

The police spokesman in the state, SP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said the police would investigate the matter.
