Togo Extends State of Emergency in Savanes Region for Another Year

The Togolese National Assembly has approved a 12-month extension of the state of emergency in the Savanes region, citing ongoing security challenges.

During a plenary session on Thursday, lawmakers voted by an absolute majority to extend the measure, which will now remain in effect until March 13, 2026, according to an announcement from the parliament.

The extension aims to help the government adjust its security strategy, enhance citizen protection, and maintain public order while safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity.

The previous extension, which was approved on March 12, 2024, is set to expire at midnight on March 13, 2025. This latest decision ensures continued stability and security efforts in the region.
