Ryan Routh, the suspect who attempted to assassinate former president Donald Trump, has been charged with over 100-count charge.

Appearing in federal court on Monday, Routh was charged with a two-count charge, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Court records show more than 100 criminal counts have been filed against Routh in North Carolina, NBC News reported.

He was reportedly charged in 2002 with possessing a weapon of mass destruction, which is a felony in the United States.

Recall that Routh has previously spoken about his efforts to recruit people to fight in support of Ukraine against Russia.

He also wrote a book on the Ukraine war. In the book, he told Iran to assassinate Trump while praising John Kerry for the Iran Deal. He also calls Trump an idiot and says he “perpetrated” 6th January.

It was also reported Routh displayed a Biden-Harris sticker on his truck in Hawaii.

Previously a Trump supporter, Routh shifted to Democrats, advising Biden on an X post on 22nd April to ‘campaign on keeping America democratic and free’.

The FBI is investigating, with searches conducted at his homes in Hawaii and North Carolina, according to Hindustan Times.

The Secret Service and Homeland Security agents have also searched Routh’s former home in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has said that the suspect was the subject of a tip to the agency in 2019, revolving around his possession of firearms.

“It was alleged he was a felon in possession of a firearm,” Special Agent Jeffrey Veltri said. “Following up on the tip, the alleged complainant was interviewed and did not verify, I repeat, did not verify, providing the initial information. The FBI passed that information to local law enforcement in Honolulu.”

Meanwhile, Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., in a post on X, said: “You know what’s getting really old? Having to have conversations with my 5 young children about radical leftist trying to kill their grandfather. No person should ever have to do this in America or anywhere else and yet I had to have that conversation five times again yesterday.”
