Unravelling Donald Trump’s Second Assassination Attempt

For the second time this year, former president Donald Trump and Republican Party candidate for the 5th November 2024 United States presidential election, has escaped assassination.

This time around, the suspect has been identified as Ryan Wesley Routh. The attempt was on 15th September 2024 at Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach.

According to Fox News, Routh was allegedly hiding in the bushes with an AK-47 with a scope, two backpacks, and a GoPro and was spotted by the Secret Service before he could take action.

“We’re told the suspect’s name is Ryan Wesley Routh. Not much more known about him at this time, except that he’s the suspect currently in custody right now.”

Confirming, Steven Cheung, Trump Campaign Communications, said in a statement that, “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time.

“Multiple shots fired at Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach where the former president is golfing today,”

Trump was golfing when multiple shots rang out at Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach.

Was Trump The Intended Target?

Donald Trump was the intended target of the shots fired at Trump International Golf Club, according to CNN.

Agents opened fire on a man who was at the Trump International Golf Course after they saw what appeared to be a gun, according to the NYP.

“Officials believe the shots fired at Trump International Golf Club were intended for former President Donald Trump, according to sources familiar on the matter,” CNN reported.

“Sources said the Secret Service spotted a suspicious individual on the Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach and opened fire when agents saw what appeared to be the barrel of a gun,” the New York Post reported.

Senator Lindsey Graham says he spoke with Trump after the incident.

“Just spoke with President Trump. He is one of the strongest people I’ve ever known. He’s in good spirits and he is more resolved than ever to save our country.”

What Really Happened?

Two people exchanged fire as Donald Trump left his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to the New York Post.

The shooters were reportedly targeting each other and the gunfire was not targeting Trump.




Trump was put into a “hard room” for protection after the shots rang out according to Natalie Winters.

“Two people exchanged gunfire outside of Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach. The shooters were targeting each other, and the gunfire was not targeting Trump, the sources said,” the New York Post reported.

“Sources said that Trump was never in danger and that the shooting happened in an area outside the club that is known for high crime.”

The Secret Service

Trump was tackled by Secret Service agents when he was on the 5th hole after “pops” rang out.

According to Fox News, Trump was getting ready to putt when the incident unfolded.

The revelation came from Fox News’ Sean Hannity who has spoken to Trump multiple times since the incident at Trump International Golf Club.




“They heard ‘pop, pop, pop, pop.’ And Steve went into great specificity and great detail as to what happened.

“Within seconds, the Secret Service pounced on the president and covered him. You had snipers with tripods. They knew the direction where the shots had been fired, and they had eyes on the location where the shots had been fired.”

The Secret Service opened fire after they saw a suspected gunman at Trump International Golf Club in Florida.

According to Fox News, it was the Secret Service who opened fire.

“Fox News can now report that it was the Secret Service that fired the gunshots at the suspected gunman outside former President Trump’s golf club.”

“The Secret Service saw a man carrying an AK-47. The man with the AK-47 did not open fire, it was the Secret Service that opened fire.”

“The man dropped the rifle and took off running. We now understand based on local reports, that that suspect is now in custody.”




The development comes after CNN reported that the gunshots were “intended” for Trump.

The Trump assassination suspect was hiding in the bushes with an AK-47 with a scope, two backpacks, and a GoPro.

The Secret Service agents were one hole ahead of Trump, scoping out the area when they noticed the suspect.

The FBI is now investigating the incident as an “attempted assassination” making this the 2nd assassination attempt on Trump in 2 months.

Trump was taken to the ground by agents after the “pops” rang out.

According to the Secret Service, agents fired 4 shots at the suspect.




It is unclear if the suspect shot as well.

Identifying The Suspect

The Trump would-be assassin was identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, according to Fox News.

Routh was reported to be connected to Rep Adam Kinzinger through his support and fight for Ukraine.

Recall that Trump was shot at a rally in July and escaped the attempt to end his life.
