According to the “Penguin Teaching” official account, recently, the AIGE Research Center of the Department of Computer Science at Tsinghua University and the Digital Teaching Laboratory of Tencent’s Sustainable Social Value Division (SSV) have jointly launched an artificial intelligence general education charity course on the Penguin Teaching Platform.
It was learned from the official introduction that the course adopts a dual-teacher classroom model, with senior volunteer lecturers teaching online and local teachers organizing students to participate in the interaction.
As of March 14, 2025, the AI general education course of the Penguin Teaching Platform covers 6 provinces/municipalities, 24 prefectures and cities, and 67 districts and counties across the country, with a total of 202 schools and 281 classes, benefiting more than 7,000 students, including 134 classes in 94 schools in Gansu Province, 98 classes in 67 schools in Hebei Province, 30 classes in 29 schools in Qinghai Province, and 15 classes in 9 schools in Chongqing, most of which are rural primary schools.
At the end of 2024, the AIGE Research Center of the Department of Computer Science at Tsinghua University, together with Tsinghua University Press and Tsinghua University Affiliated High School Education Group, established the Tsinghua University General Education System for AI for Primary, Secondary and High Schools Research Project Team to develop a general education system for AI that covers primary, secondary and high schools.
Currently, the system has been completed, and the three volumes of General Education for AI for primary, middle and high schools based on the system will be officially published in mid-April.
This AI general education course is part of a broad cooperation plan between the AIGE Research Center of the Department of Computer Science at Tsinghua University and Tencent’s Sustainable Social Value Division.
The course is based on the “AI General Education” (primary school version) and has a total of 44 lessons (which are being launched online one after another).
The course team includes both AI experts in the front line of scientific research and primary and secondary school teachers in the front line of teaching.
