The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has change the mode of admission screening exercise from aptitude test to O’level point grading system for the 2024/2025 academic session.
This was disclosed by Gabriel Egbe, Registrar of the University on Monday, 19th August 2024, in a statement with reference number UC/REG/CIR/64.
The statement which said the management regrets the inconveniences it will caused on the students further said the reason for the changes is due to the high cost of transportation occasioned by fuel scarcity in the country.
It also said the Post-UTME registration has been extended to 31st August 2024.
“The University of Calabar wishes to announce to the general public, that the 2024/2025 Post-UTME screening exercise earlier scheduled to commence from Monday, August 26, 2024, will no longer hold as scheduled.

“Management of the University, having taken into consideration, factors such as high cost of transportation occasioned by fuel scarcity in the country, accommodation, logistics and the security situation in the Country, has decided to cancel the 2024/2025 Post-UTME screening exercise.
“Candidates who chose the University of Calabar as their first choice institution and have registered online for the 2024 Post-UTME screening exercise, are hereby advised to visit the nearest JAMB-CBT centre to upload their O’level results.
“The University will score all candidates based on their O’level grades, using the point tally system for the purpose of 2024/2025 admissions.
“To this end, the University hereby gives one week extension for Post-UTME registration on its portal. Candidates who are yet to register are advised to use this window of opportunity to do so, on or before Saturday, August 31, 2024.
“Please note that there will be no further extension of date for registration after this deadline as the portal would be closed finally on the 31st August, 2024. We regret any inconvenience this change in arrangement may have caused our dear applicants,” the statement read in full.
