Another Otu’s aide accused of diverting 300 bags of rice

The Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on Inter-Party Affairs on Women Affairs, Hon. Nkoyo Otu, has been accused of diverting 300 bags of rice meant for the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).

According to a source, Hon. Otu was given 450 bags of rice to give to IPAC but she only gave them 150, diverting the other 300.

The source, who decided to be anonymous, said a memo of 450 bags of rice was sent to the now-suspended Chairman of IPAC, Edet Effiom, but only 150 bags were released.

“IPAC was allocated 450 bags of rice but she (Hon. Otu) gave them only 150 bags. When the Chairman of IPAC (Effiom – now suspended) and other members approached her, she said she was going to give them the balance, claiming that she had people working with her, and the said people were given rice.

“You can imagine how humans are greedy in life, abusing little opportunities given to them. She did not even release at least 350 bags and kept 100. You’re taking what belongs to a group of people more than what they deserve. This is bad and not a good action by the said woman in charge of distributing the palliatives.

“A MEMO of 450 bags was already sent to the IPAC Chairman but you still went further to shorten 300 bags. This act is fraudulent and tantamount to spoiling the reputation of the administration of His Excellency Sen Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s leadership. Let her be cautioned or removed from that office with immediate effect please,” the source said.

CONVERSEER reports the IPAC in June called for the replacement of Hon. Nkoyo

The council, in a six-point resolution, said: “Our observation is that the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Mr Nsa Gill, was appointed from NUJ as well, and the Special Adviser on Labour was also appointed from the Nigeria Labour Congress, we appeal that IPAC should not be an exception. Our appeal is that an SA Inter-Party Affairs should be appointed from amongst our party leaders.

“Nkoyo Otu lacks the capacity and experience to lead political parties having not been a party chairman.

“The period she interfaced with our women leaders, we got reports that she invited them against the party leadership.”

Several efforts were made to reach Hon. Otu for comments but to no avail.
