A Shari’a court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, has sentenced a 19-year-old man, Dahiru Usman, to one month in a correctional facility for assaulting a s3x worker, Zainab Idris.

Delivering the judgment, the presiding judge, Malam Kabir Muhammad, gave Usman an option to pay a N7,000 fine. Additionally, the court ordered him to pay N70,000 in compensation to Idris or face a 12-month prison term.

The prosecutor, ASP Luka Sadau, told the court that Idris, a resident of Kigo Road, filed a report at Sabon Gari Police Station on January 15. “On that day, around 2:30 p.m., the accused and the complainant agreed to meet at a hotel on Constitution Road for a service priced at N10,000. However, a disagreement arose in the hotel room, leading Usman to assault Idris, striking her on the head with a hammer and causing injury,” Sadau explained.

The hammer used in the assault was presented in court as evidence. Sadau urged the court to ensure justice by compensating the victim for her injuries and losses.

In his defence, Usman pleaded guilty to the charges of assault and causing harm, expressing remorse for his actions.
