The National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has revealed that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has formally committed to serving only one term if elected president in the 2027 general election.

Speaking on Channels TV Politics Today, Kwankwaso said the agreement goes beyond a verbal assurance, disclosing that both the party and the two leaders documented the commitment in writing.

According to him, the arrangement reflects the trust and understanding between both men as they work towards the party’s goal of winning the next presidential election.

“We are all gentlemen, even though we have accepted to put it even on paper. We have done one for the party, and we have done another one between the two of us,” he said.

Kwankwaso also expressed confidence in the commitment of the party’s supporters, describing them as people driven by conviction rather than financial inducements.

He said the NDC’s supporters were determined not only to cast their votes but also to ensure that every legitimate vote is protected during the election.

“Our supporters are not just merely people who are looking for money or who are looking for textile or food items on the day of election. These are people who are determined not only to vote but to make sure that the votes are being protected,” he added.

His remarks come amid growing political discussions over the NDC’s preparations for the 2027 general election and its campaign strategy.
