Gov Otu appoints 5 into Cross River State Sports Commission

By Kingsley Agim

Governor Bassey Otu has called on aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State to remain calm and demonstrate sportsmanship as the party prepares for its primary elections in May.

The governor’s message was delivered by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, during the 1.5 million-man march held in support of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Otu at Ikom Township Stadium, recently.

Addressing party faithful and aspirants at the rally, Odey conveyed the governor’s appeal for unity within the APC, stressing that all contestants belong to one political family and must avoid actions capable of causing division.

“His Excellency has asked me to tell all aspirants to calm down. We belong to one political family, and at the appropriate time, all issues will be discussed and resolved,” he said.

He cautioned against internal wrangling and the use of abusive language during campaigns, urging aspirants to conduct themselves with decorum and mutual respect.

“There is no need for quarrels or unnecessary arguments. Everyone has the right to aspire. Support whoever you choose, but do so without insults or hostility,” he added.

He further disclosed that the governor is expected back in the state soon and will convene a meeting with stakeholders to address all concerns ahead of the primaries.

“As the leader of this political family, he will sit with everyone and ensure that all issues, whether concerning the Senate, House of Representatives, or House of Assembly, are resolved amicably,” he assured.
