The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) and Chairman of Senate, Prof. Florence Banku Obi has announced the promotion of six academic staff in the University to the position of professors in their various disciplines.
Prof. Obi who made this known at an emergency Senate meeting held at the Senate Chamber on Thursday, 17, 2022, said 6 academic staff were affected in the promotion exercise, five Professors and one Associate Professor.
The new professors are; Dr (Mrs) Esther S. Uko of the Department of Educational Management, Dr Sunday D. Ediyang of the Department of Social Science Education, and Dr (Mrs) Judith Eteng Otu of the Department of Sociology.
Others are Dr Clement O. Nku of the Department of Physiology, Dr Sunday O. Ochigbo, of the Department of Paediatrics, and Dr Thomas Eneji Ogar of the Department of Philosophy as Associate Professor.
In other news, the Vice-Chancellor has inspected the ongoing projects in the institution.
Prof. Obi, who inspected the ongoing work at Pavilion 1, 2 & 3, Civil Engineering Workshop, Law Faculty and hostel accommodation building, was accompanied by the DVCs Academic and Administration, Director of Physical Planning, Director of Works, the Dean, Faculty of Law amongst others.
While commending the architects on sites for employing more hands to get the job done, she urged them to deliver the job according to specification.
The VC is always on a routine inspection of ongoing projects in the institution with a view to ensuring that the job is delivered to the institution for use as when due.
