Missouri, U.S. – A 41-year-old man, Jeffrey Goedde, was taken into custody after he called law enforcement and confessed to killing his father at their home.

According to the criminal complaint, Goedde contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, Dec. 18, claiming that his father was unconscious and bleeding in the kitchen.

He reportedly told the police, “I committed a crime and I wanted to turn myself in,” admitting he used “weapons and hands” to strike his father, including kitchen knives. He also stated he might have used other weapons but could not recall.

The sheriff’s office requested the Manchester Police Department to conduct a welfare check at the victim’s residence. When officers arrived, they received no response at the door and entered the home through a basement window.

Inside, police reported a strong smell of bleach and discovered the victim in the kitchen with multiple stab wounds and other injuries.

A Manchester Police Department detective interviewed Goedde at the sheriff’s office, where he allegedly confessed to “accidentally killing someone.”

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home, where they found a kitchen knife in a trash can near the victim’s body.

An autopsy revealed that the victim had been stabbed 50 times, suffered broken bones, and endured blunt force trauma to his head, face, and back. Strangulation was also indicated as part of the attack.

Jeffrey Goedde has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He is being held in the St. Louis County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
